My Website

still here!

This month I think I did a fair amount. And I actually think this is something I'll be able to keep up. Lot's of things I get bored a month in as the novelty fades but that hasn't happened here, which I'm really glad for. Having a website is actually quite fun!

Style~

Right! Perhaps most noticeably I have changed the background colour and - what do you know - contrast is sexy! I think I can vaguely remember being told this when I did web design at school, but I never paid attention in classes I was already good at. It was always a matter of choosing a colour scheme that doesn't melt brains and sticking to it. I have a colour theme now, also. I mean... it's literally every colour but I'm sure an art major would be able to say there is definately some scheming going on somewhere. At any rate it doesn't look like ass, so I must've done it right.

I'm still really proud of this custom border, so I'll mention that again, and it's relevant because I now have a matching title for the "navigaytion" bit (if you don't like my humour the close tab button is ready and waiting). Eventually I plan on jazzing up the links too but though I came up with a few different buttons I didn't like any of them.

Looking at other people's sites I realised that I like it when the style isn't so uniform, and they'll have a page that has no resemblance to any other with a hundred desaturated nyan cat gifs as the background and text straight out of microsoft's wordarts. I'd like to sprinkle some of this within my own site. I'm thinking with the sustenance pages which there will end up being a few of, as well as the art pages when I get around to those.

Code

F***ing hell. This month I delved for the first time in my life into javascript. Now, before I decided to go on this whole crusade, I only had experience with python and SQL. I though it might be helpful. It's not. I am experiencing the same kind of pain I had when I discovered that punctuation is not the same in every language, a devastating blow for younger me when I decided to first pick up a book written in French. What the fuck. Too many similarities and too many differences.

So far, I have learned to track mouse movements, and do absolutely nothing with that. I also found some code online to make elements pulse, as I wanted for my main page splash text. I didn't actaully like the code that I found so I changed it though. My new problem is that I am trying to figure out a randomiser aspect. I know how to do this without the animation, because for some reason when I turn the randomiser on the animation stops working. I did a few tests and found out what was causing the problem, but neglected to write it down and now I don't remember. It can't be too hard to fix though - right? I choose to live in optimism.

Pages

Added an actual sustenance page! Realised that I also didn't know how to spell sustenance, and had to fix that. If you're wondering why the fuck I have a sustenance page, I'd reply why don't you have a sustenance page? I am not above material desires, and so I'm making a catelogue of them. Originally, I was just going to have one page full of pictures of shirtless men and memes, but I'm seeing now that this has a lot of potential actually. I have a section for my own stuff - the art pages, and now I can also have a section full of other people's stuff! There may yet appear within here a page full of shirtless men and memes, but alongside it will be other things. Right now I have a youtube page, so you can check that out. I think there's some variety so there may be something you like, if you ahven't already heard of everything. I admit, I'm not the type to recommend smaller stuff simply because I have a hard enough time finding the bigger stuff. Also, the times I have enjoyed smaller content creators suddenly in six months they are no longer small. If anyone has any reccomendations though, I'd like to hear them.

I added a guestbook! I was leaning towards coding my own but, well, I didn't. Perhaps in the future. I'm happy with what's there for now though, and whilst neocities users can leave comments on neocities, I think having it on the webpage itself is a different thing you know? Different vibes. I got rid of the fandoms link in the sidebar to replace it with the guestbook, as I now plan to put that page as one of the sustenance pages now they're going to be more than hornyposting.

And, seeing as this is the main point (kinda), perhaps I should have mentioned this sooner, but I have a whole one post up! It's not so long, but I'm happy with it I think. I expect the style/tone to vary a lot according to the topic/how I feel on any particular day, but at the end I picked a bit and by god I'm sticking to it even if it's shoehorned in awfully, so the review thing is sticking around. I might have outliers, but I am determined that most of these (excluding my brilliantly edited and well thought out changelogs) will have actual reviews in them.

Else

Will there be a post schedule? No. The schedule is when inspiration strikes. If want faster updates uhhhhhh you're not getting them.

Whilst I'm writing this, I see that this site has had a whole 1001 views! That could be unique or the same people but either way I'm stoked. I'm getting attention!! It stokes the happy chemicals in my brain. Thank you for checking this out :), it means a lot to me. And I'd like to think that if anyone hated it they might bother sending hate mail, so I'm sure that means you really it here!

I might've done other stuff, but I wrote none of it down. So, basically, that's all folks! Good morning, good afternoon, good evening, good night. Eat breakfast and say hi to a friend!

(Oh yeah! I also learned how to do these! <<<>>>!!!)
